'The city of queens', say people of this city on the banks of the river Séd. Hungary's first bishopric was set up here, for it was the privilege of Veszprém's bishops to crown each queen. On the 500 metre rock backbone of the castle hill, in a part of the castle where a royal fortress stood in the 11-13th centuries, attractive private houses create a historic atmosphere.
