Český Krumlov

Český Krumlov is an exceptional jewel of historic architecture, whose importance is underlined by the fact that it was included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage Sites in 1992. Above the Vltava River, a unique symbiosis of urban architecture, mainly dating back to the 16th century and a château complex, the second-largest in might and glory after Prague Castle. The historic sight belonging to the Rožmberk family includes a whole range of castle buildings: the famous Mascara hall, a baroque theater recently opened to the public, the château garden equipped with a rococo fountain and a Bellare summer palace with a rotating stage. St. Vitus' Cathedral is the dominant symbol of the town and a precious work of south bohemian gothic architecture. The town's atmosphere is complemented by numerous cultural activities, many of them renowned the world over, such as the International Music Festival, the Festival of Medieval Music, exhibitions in the International Egon Schiele Center and the five-petal roses celebrations.
